Him

by Sheye Blaze

Your eyes sparkle with playful teasing
And I know that you're alive
That you remember the things that can be good.
Your smile shines at me from across the room
I hear your laughter clean and fearless

Time passes by

I see you -- standing alone
Your eyes glittering with unshed tears
My heart wrenches knowing that you hurt
You are lost in a bad moment.
I walk up to you. Touch you. Interrupt you.

You look at me and I feel the wave wash over me
Overwhelming hurt -- fear -- and lonliness
This time my heart is rended, torn
I can feel it. I see it. I know it.
This is how I ended up here

I could not shut you out despite the invasion of your pain.
Blindly I step forward, accepting
Not fighting when I know I can not win.
I could feel you in a way that few can force me to do.
That few can even make me want to do.

I am swept away by the desire to protect you
The desire to make the bad things go away
To hold you , tell you it'll all be ok, that you're important and loved.
I wish that you could see inside of me
And see all that you truly are.

Beauty, pain, wonderment, sorrow, delight
Full of depth and secrets -- so many to explore
Life and death, trivial meanings along side the profound
And this, my dearest sweet --
This is only a part of who you are to me.
