Political Messages

every step that i take moves
me further from the goals
that i want to see in the
world around me
life is beating me down
religion is raping my world
politicians defile my country's ideals
and began civil wars for oil
false priests spread the word
of hatred, fear, and jugdment
doing the work that evil
began when time started
i begin to fear expressing
my thoughts, my opinions
i began to fear just
wanting to be me
after all, i'm just an atheist
living in a land apparently
blessed by god, started by god
living only with god's blessing
free only because of god
here in the land of the free
the home of the brave
as long as you're a
god-fearing christian
my soul breathes deeply
pulling in a lung full
of the foul air that
surrounds me
my spirit tries to eat,
the food that fills
my belly offers me
no nourishment
my heart drinks water
from a dark spring
the pollution
poisons me
